As stewards of the Entlebucher breed, we’re committed to the health of the dogs we love so much. The NEMDA database is a valuable tool to document our beloved dogs’ ancestry, accomplishments, photos, and health.

Most importantly by compiling information about the health of our dogs, we can use it for improving Entlebucher wellness for generations to come. It  allows us to track trends and identify where scientific studies may be necessary. Our goal is an ever-healthier Entlebucher population... and... we need your help!

Why this is important… simply put, the information of every Entlebucher is vital to understanding the full health picture of the breed. If we see commonalities of disease, we know we need to research causes, determine actions, and alert breeders. If you’re checking out the database and notice siblings of your dog are experiencing the same health issue, this provides you with information that could be helpful to your vet in treating your dog. If you’re a breeder and looking for a new mate for your next litter, the database is going to be your best friend in vetting health and researching breeding lines. So, we need you to get an account and get involved in this essential piece of the Entlebucher puzzle!

We’re proud of the quality and quantity of information in this database. We draw from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), the American Kennel Club (AKC), and other national and international registries. We have a team of NEMDA volunteers who verify much of the information before it is made public. The database has a good start, and we’re excited to grow it further!
